Contemporary Organization & Management (MGMT 325)

MGMT 325, Contemporary Organization & Management, helped me gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental managerial processes—planning, organizing, leading, and controlling—within the context of modern 21st-century organizations. My studies were balanced between macro-level organizational structures and micro-level individual roles, and we delved into various management theories, learned to differentiate between managerial functions and internal/external environments, and evaluated different managerial roles and competencies. In groups, we enhanced our learning through experiential activities such as role-playing, video analysis, discussions, and personal reflections. These skills are essential for my career in marketing analytics as they provided a solid foundation for effectively analyzing and responding to strategic and operational challenges in environments and helped me refine my dexterity in communication and relationship dynamics.

(L)eadership

Throughout the course, I explored critical aspects such as ethics, corporate responsibility, and sustainability—emphasizing their importance in shaping responsible business practices. This understanding is particularly relevant in my field of marketing analytics, where ethical data collection/usage and sustainable practices can differentiate a company and enhance its reputation. I also analyzed competitive environments and strategies for maintaining competitive advantages, which is crucial for data-driven decision-making in analytical fields. The course also covered extensive ground in human resources management, leadership techniques, and the dynamics between motivation and performance, which are vital for leading teams effectively. Refining my skills in communication and team management, alongside mastering organizational planning, are indispensable competencies in the realm of marketing where collaboration and strategic foresight often dictates project success and innovation. Overall, I feel better equipped to contribute to marketing strategies that honor corporate ethics and foster a sustainable future by maintaining a competitive edge in the market and keeping team members motivated to turn a profit.
