During my internship at TFOB, I stepped into the role of a market data analyst, leveraging the knowledge gained from my Marketing Analytics & Research concentration at Old Dominion University. Tasked with handling vast amounts of data from various managerial information systems such as Paytronix, Toast, Shopify, Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, Squarespace Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and Wedding Pro, I developed essential skills in data extraction, cleaning, sorting, synthesis, and visualization. This role not only allowed me to fill a critical gap at TASTE but also enabled me to apply theoretical concepts to practical challenges, transforming raw data into actionable insights through the use of sophisticated tools like Microsoft Excel, R, and Tableau.
This hands-on experience at TFOB was an invaluable part of my education, as it brought to life the data-driven concepts learned in courses such as Web Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Spreadsheet-Based Data Analysis for Decision Making, and Consumer Behavior at Old Dominion. Throughout the internship, I practiced nearly every concept taught in these courses, particularly from BNAL 405, which equipped me with a robust foundation in Excel pivotal for my daily tasks. Courses like MKTG 475 highlighted the importance of KPIs and introduced advanced analytics methods like RFM and conjoint analysis, enhancing my analytical rigor. Meanwhile, MKTG 402 offered insights into consumer behavior, enriching my approach to data analysis with a consumer-centric perspective. Engaging with real consumer data not only solidified my theoretical knowledge but also boosted my confidence in handling real-world business scenarios, proving that practical experience is as crucial as academic learning in shaping a skilled marketing professional.
